I’ve mentioned before that my wife was battling early onset colon cancer. She passed away on April 4th. I haven’t had much time to write since then, and the time I have had, I’ve spent writing to make sense of the thoughts in my head about her, about cancer, and about her passing. Quillette was kind enough to host the first article about my wife’s losing struggle:
It was something that’s been weighing heavily on me since before I began writing on Medium, but which I felt it would be very inappropriate to write about. Now, I probably will, but I’m not sure how much of that will fall into the HWFO umbrella. Probably very little. I may spark up a second publication to house those articles.
I’ve become involved in a startup media group related to gun ownership / gun rights from a non-tribal perspective. It’s called Open Source Defense, and is comprised of a small group of people and includes some very talented writers such as Jon Stokes and Kareem Shaya. You can find them here:
I may, time permitting, begin migrating some of the prior HWFO gun material onto that site.
All this is to say, basically, that the material going into this HWFO publication is probably going to slow a bit going forward, and the things I do write might end up sprinkled around different publications. I’m not really sure yet.
There’s an outside chance that I’ll be a guest host on Peter Limberg’s Intellectual Explorers Club podcast, with Heather Heying as guest, sometime in the next month. If that happens, I’ll definitely drop a note on Medium about it. Podcasts are fun, and she seems like a very interesting person to talk to. I was a guest on his podcast once before, and I felt it was very engaging.
